Marketers New Years Resolution: Make it New!

In a new study conducted by Next Level Strategic Marketing in October 2007 and reported by eMarketer, marketers reported their strategic marketing initiatives for 2008. Perhaps feeling the need for change, 64% of marketers plan to launch new innovations or line extensions. Also, 63% are planning all new marketing initiatives (such as new promotions, p.r. campaigns.) Another 53% specifically plan all new advertising campaigns.

Also of interest in the study, more than 20% of the respondents said they wished that they had NOT relied on “tried and true” marketing tactics and had been more creative in finding new ways to reach their audiences.

When asked their expectations on what media will be negatively impacted over the next few years, marketers pointed solidly at traditional methods such as TV, newspapers, and magazines with 42.4% of big budget marketers saying TV would take the biggest hit. However, the Internet and PR were expected to do relatively well over this period.
