DPL Labs Awards Honeywell HDMI™ Cables First “5” Or Best Rating in
DPL Class C Testing Category
DPL’s Class C Category Covers High-Speed Deep Color HDMI Products
ORMOND BEACH, FL – AUGUST 12, 2008 – DPL Laboratories, Inc. (DPL Labs), the industry’s leading digital technology performance testing center, announced today that it has released Digital Performance Level ratings (DPL ratings) on several HDMI™ cable products from Honeywell International including DPL’s first “5” or “best” rating in their Class C testing category. DPL’s Class C testing category covers high-speed, Deep Color HDMI products.
In order to better track and report on the performance of the ever expanding HDMI™ product universe, DPL has created three testing classifications under which submitted products will be tested and rated. The definition of these classifications is shown below:

Clock Speed : 74.25 MHz – Resolution: 1080i – Refresh Rate: 30 Hz – Color Depth: 8-Bit - Class B
Clock Speed: 165 MHz – Resolution: 1080p – Refresh Rate: 60 Hz –Color Depth: 8-Bit
Clock Speed: 165 MHz – Resolution: 720p/1080i – Refresh Rate: 120 Hz – Color Depth: 8-Bit - Class C
Clock Speed: 297 MHz – Resolution: 1080p – Refresh Rate: 60 Hz – Color Depth: 16-Bit Deep Color
Clock Speed: 297 MHz – Resolution: 720p/1080i – Refresh Rate: 120 Hz – Color Depth: 16-Bit Deep Color
Honeywell, one of the industry’s largest and most diversified manufacturers of technology products, provided DPL Labs with eleven HDMI™ models from their Cure Light™ Technology line and their Genesis Crystal 7000 Series for testing as part of the DPL Performance Testing & Certification Program.
The Honeywell HDMI™ cables were tested and rated in both the Class B and Class C categories. DPL Labs’ normal performance testing process subjected the cables to a complete and rigorous testing regime to determine their relative performance against DPL’s objective standard and then rated them on a simple numeric 1 – to – 5 scale (with 5 indicating best) based on actual product performance.
As a result of this testing, Honeywell’s Crystal 7000 Series .5 meter cable was awarded a “5” or “best” performance rating in both the Class B and Class C categories. This performance represents DPL’s first “5” rating in their Class C testing category of HDMI™ cables. The Honeywell HDMI™ cable models performed as shown in the following tables:

During the testing process, DPL engineers also took note of the remarkable consistency between samples in almost every test, especially with respect to skew. This suggests that Honeywell production facilities are maintaining excellent manufacturing and quality control standards.
DPL Labs President Jeffrey Boccaccio commented on the Honeywell results by saying, “Honeywell’s DPL ratings show that when a manufacturer really cares about building a better product, technologies like HDMI – which can be challenging to manufacture – can be built to a consistently higher performance standard.
