MAY 2008 W4 ALERT Pioneer to Add More Outlet Stores in U.S. If one is good, four is better <JCN-TOKYO><May 22, 2008>According to a report from the Jiji press in Tokyo, Pioneer plans to expand their outlet stores in the United States this year in an attempt to “bolster sales of its key products such as plasma display television sets.”
According to the report, Jiji Press interviewed President Tamihiko Sudo who indicated that the company plans to open three more outlets for a total of four by the end of this year.
Sudo says that the current Pioneer Outlet Store, opened two years ago in a suburb of Los Angeles, CA is doing very well.
Although the report does not specify the locations for the new stores, a search is currently underway for new sites “on the West Coast.”
The Pioneer President also said that the first LCD TV products, resulting from its partnership with Sharp would be available in Spring 2009 at the earliest in the U.S. It is possible that they will be released in Japan earlier than that. |
