Xbox 360 Wins War Against PlayStation3 & Wii...According to Microsoft
Company Claims First to Ship Ten Million Units - Declares Victory in Console War
<Reuters><May 14, 2008>Reuters reported today that the Microsoft Corporation has shipped more than ten million units of its popular Xbox 360 video game system and as the first of the latest generation game console manufacturers to do so, beat Sony’s Playstation 3 and Nintendo’s Wii systems in the war for domination of the video game business.
Don Mattrick, a Microsoft senior vice president, claims, “History has shown us that the first company to reach 10 million units in console sales wins the generation battle.”
Xbox 360 was launched in November 2005, about one year before Sony launched their Playstation3 and Nintendo their Wii. The Wii, however, is closing quickly with 8.8 million units shipped, while Sony trails with about 4.1 million PS3s shipped according to market research firm NPD.
